The left side of the pedal is the echo\/slap delay circuit. This circuit is designed to be a hybrid of tape echo and analog BBD delay.  The controls are simple and it sounds good in every setting. The “Slap” knob is the amount of delay time.  As you turn the knob up, you will get longer delay times.  Keep in mind, this pedal is designed for shorter vintage slap-back delay times. The “Mix” knob is the effect level.  Full counter clockwise is all dry and full clockwise is full wet\/effect. The “Repeat” knob controls how many echoes or repeats you get. The minimum is one and maximum is around 4.5 repeats. \"Repeat\" knob lets you fine tune how many delays you will get.  Lastly is the “EQ” knob. This control only affects the repeat delay signal so that you can perfectly adjust the brightness or darkness of your echo. When fully counter clockwise the repeats are at their darkest much like an old BBD analog delay. The Mids and Sweep controls work very closely together so you can find the perfect frequencies to boost or scoop mid frequencies. When the Mids knob is at 12 o'clock, no frequencies are boosted or scooped.  Turning the Mids knob to the left of 12 o'clock will begin to scoop out midrange frequencies, while turning the Mids knob to the right of 12 o'clock will begin to boost midrange frequencies. The Sweep knob controls the what frequencies will be affected.  Sweep knob to the left will cause low-mids to be affected, while Sweep knob to the right will cause hi-mids to be affected.  The Lo\/Hi toggle is like a \"Q\" function and controls how sharp the frequency peak is that you’re affecting with the Mids knob.  \"Lo\" is a softer and wider peak for slightly subtler affect as you tweak the Mids\/Sweep knobs.  \"Hi\" is a sharper and steeper peak giving you a very pointed and defined effect as you tweak the Mids\/Sweep knobs.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e This pedal is fantastic on an almost-breaking-up amp to send it into midrange tube driven heaven, or with an overly scooped distortion to give you the bite you need to cut through with every \"djent,\" blues lick, rock riff, or lead line. It ultimately didn’t work for the fuzz, since that circuit is comically sensitive to transistor gain attributes.\u003cbr\u003eWe did find a place for it though.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIt turns out it was PERFECT for achieving a germanium clean boost that, (like our fuzz) is impervious to component drift, leakage, and temperature....moreso in fact. We also fixed a couple other issues preventing the germanium transistor from being used as a convincing linear boost...we increased the input headroom (even a normal guitar signal will drive a germanium transistor into unwanted input distortion without some tweaks) and increased the input impedance (a BJT transistor would normally thin out bass frequencies and interact neg- atively with whatever flows into it).\u003cbr\u003eThe result is a germanium clean boost where you can utilize a germanium transistor WITH- OUT the weird artifacts that were previously accepted as part of the deal...temperature sen- sitivity, drift, and suboptimal input impedance and headroom.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIt takes about 10 seconds when the boost is first powered up for the error correction circuit to bias the germanium transistor. After that it gets interesting....we can hear how it makes guitar signals sound more musical...even when set at the same volume as the bypassed tone. It seems to bring out the attack of the guitar while simultaneously smoothing out notes, like a compressor but different. It’s hard to describe. It appears to cut the bad parts of a signal and enhance the good. It’s killer on bass. It helps acoustic guitar pickups sound more natu- ral.
